Needed to back up my contacts in Outlook, but it would not save the emails in the email “To” dropdown field. This is because it’s stored in Outlook’s NK2 cache file. This file is not in readable form, but you if you have the patience, you can view the emails if you don’t mind looking through funky extended ASCII characters. In the process of looking for and trying various tools, I realized that not all tools were able to extract all contacts. Keep this in mind.
There’s a few tools out there that you can use to extract a list of emails saved in the NK2 file. Here they are.
Ingressor – is the best program, I was able to extract the most amount of emails/contacts, but you have to pay for it. I think it extracts everything, but you can’t save anything or copy anything. Use OCR software?
Debunk2– It’s free, but it missed 1 (could possibly miss more on different NK2 files) contact.
NK2.info– It’s free, but it missed 2 contacts, and it doesn’t show the names accurately, like Debung2 and Ingressor.

Some drooling idiot actually bid for that much on eBay. Yeah I know, obviously for the attention. But I wonder, would there be charges?

PowerShell just came out. Being a DOS zealot back in the day, this looks interesting. It’s suppose to be as robust as Bash + you have access .NET’s CLR with the scripting language. I gotta make time for this.

Just got the “Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5.” Purchased it from my bro and pretty pleased with the purchase. What’s great about this camera is its obvious size - so friggin’ small. Quality is excellent as well… at least during the day. Very easy to use and battery is very durable (at least it lasts more than my other two cameras). The two things I’m not a fan of are the weak Flash in dark places, but that goes pretty much for very small camera like this. (I use my Olympus C-5050 for night time pictures and more professional captures.) The other issue with this is its sensitivity when taking a picture. Because there’s no image stabilizer, you have to hold it very steady - again, typical of most digital cameras out there of this size, but would’ve been nice. Overall though, I’ve learned to use it and I love it.
Here’s a pictures of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5.

This was my Minolta DiMAGE Xt that I gave away. The Sony Cybershot is replacing this one.

This is my Olympus C-5050 I use for better quality pics. Good Flash for dark areas.

Every year I see what new car models are going to come out, and it’s the same thing. The same boring, standard coupe, sedan, etc.. Sure, there’s some fancy doohickies slapped on, round the edges a little bit, add a spoiler perhaps… and voila… is that the formula for a new design? When are we going to see car companies make a drastic change in their design? I wanna walk outside my house and feel like Marty in Back to the Future II. Those were unique car designs. I hope I’m not the only one when I speak this.
When’s the last time we’ve seen cars like these (other than car shows)? All I’m talking about is the outer shell of cars, not interior. A company like Toyota would have a hard time engineering parts for a flying car, but I’m not asking for that. I’m just asking for the shell, which they can do. I’m sure there’s some stupid politically/business reason why not.

I will definitely get this when it’s in stores… ^_^

Digital Information Development (DID) has developed a highly portable virtual piano that is played with a keyboard consisting of projected laser beams.
The box-shaped device measures about 10 x 3 x 3 cm (4 x 1 x 1 in.) and weighs about 100 grams (3.5 oz.). Using a red semiconductor laser module and holographic optical element, the device projects a 25-key 2-octave keyboard onto the surface in front of it (black surfaces don’t work because they absorb the light). A CMOS camera module and infrared (invisible) red semiconductor laser module detect which keys are touched, and the corresponding notes are emitted from speakers built into the device. Chords can also be played, and DID claims it is technically possible to reproduce weighted notes (but presumably not with this version).
The keyboard has 3 other voices in addition to piano — organ, pipe organ and harpsichord. It is scheduled for release in Japan in November 2006 and is expected to cost around 15,000 yen (US$130).
DID says that a virtual 88-key grand piano can be created by increasing the size of the device.

To my surprise, Propellerhead is giving away their great program, ReBirth, for free! Propellerhead is a Swedish company that makes music software. They seem to have discontinued the software and created a site just for it. For the download and more resources, go to the Rebirth Museum.

I recently got a new Microsoft keyboard without the Right-Windows-Key. I use this all the time ’cause I’m a shortcut fanatic, and I couldn’t get used to using the one on the left. Not only that, but I use a CTRL/SHIFT + INSERT a lot to copy/paste and the keys were way different from my past keyboard…
along comes AutoHotKey….
This program rocks. With it, you can create a script that runs and stays in memory. Remap keys and buttons on your keyboard, joystick, and mouse. In any case, with this tool, I was able to remap the menu key (the one usually between the Right-Windows-Key and CTRL key) that I never use to a windows key. That was close enough to me. Once installed, I was able to create a script with this command:
AppsKey::RWin
And that’s it! That mapped the menu key to the windows key! I’ll be experimenting with this program a little more and trying to get more shortcuts. You can also compile your scripts into a program that runs without an installation - in case you want your shortcuts / remapping run on a different machine.

I’m listing some good URLs that I use for SEO. They are as follows:
Check Redirection Code - For best SEO results, it’s best if you use a HTTP code of 301 when redirection one page to another. 301 is “permanent redirect.” This tool tells you what code the page you submit returns. Useful to troubleshoot pages in your site you have created already. Another tool to check Redirection is from SEO Logic.
Link popularity check - is one of the best ways to quantifiably and independently measure your website’s online awareness and overall visibility. Simply put, link popularity refers to the total number of links or “votes” that a search engine has found for your website.
Google PageRanks - Get a pagerank from various Google Datacenters
Search Engine Saturation - simply refers to the number of pages a given search engine has in its index for your website domain. Not all search engines report this information but enough of them do to create some meaningful benchmarks for your search engine marketing campaigns.
Code Snippets for URL Redirect - Various snippets of code in PHP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, HTML for making page redirections.

Different Google PageRanks
Tools out there, including the Google toolbar, may use the same PageRank algorithm, but may fetch outdated results because they get the data from different Google data centers. This may explain the reason for different page ranks you may get from the same page.
Here’s more information from www.web-wise-wizard.com:
Google PageRank™ Complexities
Before we proceed it might be useful to say a few words about Google PageRank. A factor that is likely to confuse anyone who is new to Google PageRank is that there are effectively four different types of Google PageRank, Real PageRank, Toolbar PageRank, Toolbar Display and Directory PageRank. Adding to the confusion is the fact that Google has a large number of data centers scattered around the World that contain the PageRank databases and these databases are very rarely in sync with each other. This means that you will regularly get conflicting results returned by different data centers for the same PageRank query. Of the four different types of Google PageRank, Real PageRank is arguably the most important by far.

Having found out recently that there’s no intellisense in the new SQL Server GUI tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio), I’ve found these two alternatives. In the first one, PromptSQL integrates itself into Query Analyzer and gives you great intellisense. Check it out! You gotta pay for this though. Less than $50 I believe - they’ve closed down the download section for now because they’re in the proces of releasing a newer version.:

The second, Aqua Data Studio, is a completely different tool all together, that has intellisense + other query building functionality. The GUI is built using Java, so it can get kind of slow. Still worth a try. This is free. It also supports: Oracle, DB2 UDB, SQL Server, Sybase ASE, Sybase Anywhere, Informix, PostgreSQL, MySQL.

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?

It has many other flavors:
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
Now you have an option to unlock it using Unlocker. Now, sometimes it’s theoretically impossible to unlock all files, especially some DLLs that are burned into Windows, but for most applications that you run that are not part of Windows, you either have the choice of unlock, rename, and move. This program is free too and it tries to do it without actually killing processes.
Here are some reviews for Unlocker.

If you’re tired of looking at the same old, white background while you’re coding, give this a shot. It’s a great add-in for VS.NET. The only downside to this is that it flicks a little bit when you move up/down in the editor using the up/down arrow keys. It doesn’t do it when you move with the mouse. Other than that, it’s fine.
This is what it looks like:
When you install, you have the option in the tools menu:
