Needed to back up my contacts in Outlook, but it would not save the emails in the email “To” dropdown field. This is because it’s stored in Outlook’s NK2 cache file. This file is not in readable form, but you if you have the patience, you can view the emails if you don’t mind looking through funky extended ASCII characters. In the process of looking for and trying various tools, I realized that not all tools were able to extract all contacts. Keep this in mind.

There’s a few tools out there that you can use to extract a list of emails saved in the NK2 file. Here they are.

Ingressor – is the best program, I was able to extract the most amount of emails/contacts, but you have to pay for it. I think it extracts everything, but you can’t save anything or copy anything. Use OCR software?

Debunk2– It’s free, but it missed 1 (could possibly miss more on different NK2 files) contact.

NK2.info– It’s free, but it missed 2 contacts, and it doesn’t show the names accurately, like Debung2 and Ingressor.

A different realm in my mind.
A place to dream in paradise.
The place for all mankind.

Take my hand is all I ask
And fly with me over the moon.
Don’t worry, I’ll hold you tight,
We’ll reach paradise, quite soon.

A place to relieve your worries.
The land to shed your tears.
Just relax and close your eyes,
And release your hidden fears.

So just keep holding and don’t look back.
I’ll defend you with my strongest might.
Come with me to my land of slumber,
On this enchanted night.

I’ve bought three portable consoles this year: The GP2X, the PSP, and the NDS Lite. A while back I made an entry about the PSP vs the GP2x found here. Well, since then, I’ve purchased a Nintendo DS as well.

Here’s my impression of the three:

GP2X - I bought this from Lik-sang, which recently went out of business because of Sony. Pretty much, right out of the box, this was a piece of garbage. The manual was something that seemed printed from a cheap laserjet. It was stapled together. It didn’t have the gloss of the PSP and looked dull. When turned on, it took like 15+ seconds to boot. There’s no sleep mode like the PSP/NDS. There’s no commercial games, just cheap open source which are always buggy and crash the GP2X often. No wireless technology like the PSP/NDS. Directional pad very uncomfortable. Interface laggy. Out of the box, it was practically non-functional because it was so buggy that you have to upgrade the firmware immediately. Now mind you, that this was a few months ago, so I’m sure there’s been more development from the makers and the community. However, the PSP beats it hands down as far as homebrew, which is suppose to be its strength. There’s more momentum in the PSP homebrew community, because more people own it. What’s good, and probably the only good thing (the reason why I bought it), is that the makers encourage homebrew/custom apps, aside from the piece of shit that is Sony, who block it on every firmware.

Here’s a pic:

PSP - Better graphics than the GP2X and NDS, but the games suck. I don’t understand why Sony/Game makers don’t make better games. Like 90% of the games stink. No innovation like the NDS. True that you can play MP3s and Videos on it, but I have my iPod for that. And I don’t want to carry this clunky thing as a portable media device. It’s sleek and sexy, sure, but its power and functionality isn’t being used. The UMD discs are worthless. Sony won’t let you play the movies in UMD format on anything else but the PSP. As far as homebrew, Sony restricts it. THAT would be the only good selling point as the PSP shines for homebrews. However, to run it, you need old versions of the firmware. However, if you run older versions of the firmware, you won’t be able to play recent PSP games. What stupidity. At least it’s got wireless, like the NDS.

Here’s a pic:

NDS - I just got this and I love it. The games are awesome. Sure, it’s not a swiss army knife of multimedia like the PSP, but the games are outstanding - and at the end, isn’t that what it’s all about? About having fun? It also contains a stylus, which isn’t shown here, for touching the screen. It’s got wireless like the PSP. There’s a homebrew community, but I’m not familiar with it yet. The graphics aren’t as great as the PSP, but there’s better innovation as far as add-ons. Out of the box, it doesn’t play MP3s, or watch videos, or view pictures like the PSP or GP2X, but again, I have my iPod or Morotola Q for that.

Here’s a pic:

Just got the “Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5.” Purchased it from my bro and pretty pleased with the purchase. What’s great about this camera is its obvious size - so friggin’ small. Quality is excellent as well… at least during the day. Very easy to use and battery is very durable (at least it lasts more than my other two cameras). The two things I’m not a fan of are the weak Flash in dark places, but that goes pretty much for very small camera like this. (I use my Olympus C-5050 for night time pictures and more professional captures.) The other issue with this is its sensitivity when taking a picture. Because there’s no image stabilizer, you have to hold it very steady - again, typical of most digital cameras out there of this size, but would’ve been nice. Overall though, I’ve learned to use it and I love it.

Here’s a pictures of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5.

Every year I see what new car models are going to come out, and it’s the same thing. The same boring, standard coupe, sedan, etc.. Sure, there’s some fancy doohickies slapped on, round the edges a little bit, add a spoiler perhaps… and voila… is that the formula for a new design? When are we going to see car companies make a drastic change in their design? I wanna walk outside my house and feel like Marty in Back to the Future II. Those were unique car designs. I hope I’m not the only one when I speak this.

When’s the last time we’ve seen cars like these (other than car shows)? All I’m talking about is the outer shell of cars, not interior. A company like Toyota would have a hard time engineering parts for a flying car, but I’m not asking for that. I’m just asking for the shell, which they can do. I’m sure there’s some stupid politically/business reason why not.

After hearing a lot of rave about this Anime, I decided to give it a go. I have to admit, I was very reluctant watching an Anime about a little girl who wants to be a singer and encounters angels. Not only that, but these “angels” wear silly costumes (one wears a kitty hat, while the other wears bunny ears- check out the screenshots below). Yes, the premise sounds sort of silly when you think about, however, after you watch it, learn the reason for these silly costumes, learn more about the characters, it begins to unravel itself into a damn fine Anime. The characters are so likable that you’ll find yourself relating to them. And of course, there’s the good ol’ plot twists - what no good Anime is without. No wonder it’s currently Top 4 out of 200 at AnimeNfo and got five stars from two reviews at THEMAnime .

The Plot

The story starts out sort of childish, but it progresses and gets very intense halfway. It begins with Mitsuki, a little girl that learns from two Shinigamis (death gods who come to collect souls when humans die) she’s got one year to live. She has a throat tumor, you see. Because of this, she is determined to become a pop singer no matter what it takes, and the two Shinigamis agree to help her. Within this one year (throughout the course of this series’s 52 episodes), Mitsuki experiences things she has never had a chance to before. The two Shinigamis, Meroko and Takuto, eventually befriend her and all three become inseparable. They all become best friends and unite to tackle the challenges they encouter in this story filled with some of the most emotional scenes I’ve encountered in Anime. This is a drama/comedy. Here’s some screenshots.

The Music

I liked the music so much that I’m inspired to learn at least one of the songs. Most likely “Love Chronicle.” This is such a simple song, with great chords that really portray some of the sad AND happy scenes of the Anime. The beginning and end of the song, with its sweet harmonic 8th notes portray the more joyous/funny scenes of the Anime. Everything in between is emotional. The differences in tone sort of illustrate the story of the Anime.

In any case, these are four piano arrangements I’ve found on the Internet. They are the sheet music with its MIDI/MP3 equivalent so you hear what it sounds like.
